From road to river: Water taxi against empty trips<\/h2>\n

How can we make better use of transport routes, reduce environmental impact, and optimize costs at the same time? One answer is shifting transport chains from road to rail and water. This led to the development of the water taxi concept.<\/p>\n

To do this, we use existing scheduled inland vessels to move cargo between terminals within the Port of Duisburg via the Rhine \u2013 instead of transporting them by road, as is typically the case. This reduces empty truck trips and increases the efficiency of existing routes. In the first quarter after the water taxi was introduced alone, 550 truck journeys through Duisburg were already avoided.<\/p>\n
