Connected via the Rhine and Ruhr: Logistics by water

Located in the heart of Europe, the world’s largest inland port sits directly on the Rhine, the Ruhr, and the Rhine-Herne Canal. For you, this means your logistics are connected to the world not only by road and rail, but also by water. Duisburg can be reached by the largest inland vessels as well as by Rhine-sea ships (coaster vessels). With trimodal transport, we strengthen the resilience of your supply chain!

From road to river: Water taxi against empty trips

How can we make better use of transport routes, reduce environmental impact, and optimize costs at the same time? One answer is shifting transport chains from road to rail and water. This led to the development of the water taxi concept.

To do this, we use existing scheduled inland vessels to move cargo between terminals within the Port of Duisburg via the Rhine – instead of transporting them by road, as is typically the case. This reduces empty truck trips and increases the efficiency of existing routes. In the first quarter after the water taxi was introduced alone, 550 truck journeys through Duisburg were already avoided.

For you and your cargo, this means greater cost efficiency and improved climate protection.
